Updates: Spray Pad Open; Main Street Traffic Signals Project Upcoming
The Fat Cats Spray Pad is officially open for the summer season in Baker Park. Please ensure that children using the spray pad are adequately supervised at all times.
The spray pad operates by push button control. Timers are set to enable use between the hours of 9 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Due to contractor availability, replacement of the Main Street traffic signals has been delayed until the week of May 23.
New traffic signals and LED lights will be installed at all four existing traffic signal intersections between 1st Avenue and 5th Avenue, and will consist of standard davit arms that extend over the centre of the street for greater visibility and safety for motorists.
This is a capital project that was budgeted in 2016 and postponed due to weather and delay in shipment of supplies.
Efforts will be made to reduce disruption to traffic and pedestrians but there may be road and/or lane closures for short periods of time. 4-way stop signs will be in place while lights are out of commission. The Town and contractor RGM Contracting Inc. will be working in cooperation with SaskPower to remove existing street light standards at the same time in order to make the project move forward smoothly.
The traffic signal replacement project does not include the intersection of Highway 7 and Main Street.
Garbage/recycle collection for 6th Ave E will continue in the back lane until curb/gutter and sidewalk work is complete. We just remind residents to be careful not to park in the lane and block the Loraas truck from getting through.
The Town plans to spend approximately $1.15 million in road rehabilitation in 2017. The following locations are scheduled for asphalt resurfacing and sidewalk concrete:
- 6th Avenue West (asphalt and sidewalk)
- 12th Avenue East (asphalt)
- Intersection of Main Street and Railway Avenue
- Various sidewalk portions throughout town
In addition, paving will take place at the Kindersley Regional Airport. A budget of $116,600 has been allocated toward paving of the Helipad Access and Taxi C.
