Public notice is hereby given that the Council of the Town of Kindersley intends to adopt a bylaw under the Planning and Development Act, 2007 to amend Bylaw No.04 -14, known as the Zoning Bylaw.

INTENT
The proposed bylaw amendment will:

  • Add new definitions for “Cannabis Production Facility” and “Cannabis Retail Store”;
  • Add discretionary use criteria for Cannabis Production Facilities;
  • Add discretionary use criteria for Cannabis Retail Stores requiring that they be setback at least 150 metres from schools, playgrounds, parks, licensed daycares and places of worship;
  • Add sign regulations for Cannabis Production Facilities and Cannabis Retail Stores that restrict imagery or wording directed at minors;
  • In the C1 – Downtown Commercial District and the C3 –Highway Commercial District add “Cannabis Retail Stores” as a Discretionary Use and add development standards for this use; and
  • In the M1 – Light Industrial District and M2 – Heavy Industrial District add “Cannabis Production Facilities” as a Discretionary Use and add development standards for this use.

REASON
The reason for the amendment is:

  • To provide for and regulate the retail sale and production of cannabis.


PUBLIC INSPECTION
Any person may inspect the bylaw at the Town Office, located at 106-5th Avenue East, in the Town of Kindersley, between the hours of 8:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. on Monday to Friday excluding statutory holidays. Copies of the proposed bylaw are available at the Town Office at a cost of $1.00.

PUBLIC HEARING
Council will hold a public hearing on 11th day of March 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Office to hear any person or group that wants to comment on the proposed bylaw. Council will also consider written comments received at the hearing or delivered to the undersigned at the Town Office before the hearing.
