Independent tests of several radio frequency water meters issued to Kindersley residents have confirmed that the meters are accurate in their readings.

In August, at the request of two residents who were concerned about their recent utility bills, residential water meters were sent to the Federal Government’s Measurement Canada division for testing. In order to further assess potential issues, the Town of Kindersley also sent two additional meters to the company from the homes of other residents who experienced very high water invoices.

“We are happy to report that the findings of Measurement Canada were that all four of the meters tested were within the acceptable tolerance range for recording consumption or measured in favour of the consumer as the meters are set by default to do,” said Acting Mayor Shaun Henry.

“Residents were notified both by Measurement Canada and the Town of Kindersley of the results, and we hope that this puts to rest any remaining concerns about the accuracy of the Town of Kindersley water meters.”

The Acting Mayor noted that anyone with concerns about their water meters or utility bills is encouraged to contact the Town of Kindersley at any time, and staff will continue to assist residents in determining the causes of detected leaks and other tips to reduce water consumption.
