As Kindersley experiences spring weather, our priority is to clean sand and salt residue off the streets. Sand and salt is used throughout the winter months to treat surface ice and ensure that roadways and intersections are safe for travel. Higher amounts of sediment can be found on priority routes, which include main arterial roads, emergency routes, and school zones, as they receive more attention during winter months.

Full street cleaning is not implemented until termperatures are consistently warm enough so as to not freeze overnight. The Regular Street Sweeping Schedule is in effect May 1 and can be viewed here.

Pothole filling and repair will also get underway as the weather is suitable. The lifespan of pothole fill depends heavily on the amount of traffic in an area and how well it adheres to the existing asphalt.

Potholes and smaller sections of damaged pavement are filled with a cold mix product that is ready to use and adheres to both asphalt and concrete. Larger pothole issues, asphalt patching, and street patching are addressed through the Town of Kindersley’s annual infrastructure maintenance program, which is approved by Council and is completed in collaboration with Public Works employees and contractors.

If you discover a pothole while driving, you can report it online.  Reported potholes are indexed and filled by the Public Works Department.
