Council adopted Bylaw 14-16, which amended various sections of Bylaw 03-14 (known as the Official Community Plan) that relate to service fees.

Council also adopted Bylaw 08-16, which amends the Zoning Bylaw 04-14 with a variety of new and revised definitions, as well as a new section pertaining to the regulation of shipping containers (sea cans.)

Council acknowledged its disappointment at the Minister of Government Relations' decision to deny Kindersley city status, insisting that the Ministry's guidance over the past two years suggested full support for the application. A formal invitation will be extended to the Minister to attend Council to discuss further.

A decision to adopt the new Town of Kindersley Procurement and Purchasing Policy, P01-2016, was tabled by Council until September 26, 2016, so that Administration can investigate the potential of adding specific terms related to community donations and volunteer efforts.

Council accepted the draft Terms of Reference for the Kindersley Community Advisory Network as provided by the Heartland Regional Health Authority Board. In doing so, Council accepts the terms that the Mayor of the Town of Kindersley and one additional Town representative will accept positions on the Advisory Network.

Council proclaimed the third week of October as National Teen Driver Safety Week in recognition of the high record of accidents associated with teen drivers and the need to raise awareness and seek solutions that will prevent teen deaths on roads across Canada.

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) was authorized to proceed with tax enforcement of properties in arrears, in accordance with the Tax Enforcement Act.

Council gave consent to remove the tie codes of a parcel of land south of Highways 7 at the entrance of the Kindersley and District Plains Museum in order to accommodate future widening of the road as per the Application to Subdivide Land received by Community Planning on June 20, 2016.

The CAO was directed by Council to develop an advertising broker agreement with JEM Creative based on JEM’s Community Opportunities Proposal and that the draft agreement be presented to Council for consideration.
