Councillor Rob Anderson was officially sworn in as the newest member of the Council of the Town of Kindersley and joined in the proceedings for the March 12 regular meeting. He was elected by acclamation on March 8, 2018 to fill the position left vacant by former Council member Ken Francis.

Loraas Environmental Services manager Ruebecca Fiddler addressed Council to discuss changes in the single stream recycling program. Effective April 1, 2018, Loraas will no longer be accepting plastic bags and other forms of post-consumer plastic film in the blue recycle carts. Read more…

Council amended the List of Representatives to Committees and Boards that was approved on December 12, 2016 in order to fill vacancies. The following appointments were made:

  • Western Regional Landfill Inc. – Councillor Elyse Moss
  • EK Water Administration Board – Councillor Elyse Moss
  • Water West Board – Councillor Elyse Moss
  • RM Liaison Committee – Councillor Rob Anderson

Council approved revisions to the Town of Kindersley’s previous Standards and Specifications documents relating to the design and installation of municipal infrastructure, and adopted two new stand-alone documents. The Town of Kindersley Design Standards includes the overall minimum standards required by developers and property owners for upgrades to existing infrastructure and installation of new infrastructure. This includes the water distribution system, sanitary sewer collection, storm drainage, lot servicing and drainage, and roadways.

The Town of Kindersley Master Specifications detail the materials, installation, and close-out work required for contractors completing work on municipal infrastructure. This pertains to earth work, water and sewer, roadways, and concrete.

Mayor Rod Perkins and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Bernie Morton were directed to enter into an agreement with Saskatchewan Power Corporation with respect to a 3-metre easement on land located at NW ¼ of Section 1, Township 29, Range 23.

The Mayor and CAO were also directed to enter into an agreement to extend the current lease with Bear Hills Media Group Inc. for highway signage along Highway 7 for the period of January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2022.

Council approved a 25mm water line for 804 14th Street West as requested by the property owner.
