At the January 29, 2018 Regular Meeting of Council, first reading was given to the Animal Control Bylaw 03-18, which will update the existing Animal Control Bylaw 18-11.
The following are among the key distinguishing features of the proposed new bylaw:
- The format of the Bylaw has been updated to be structurally consistent with newer Town of Kindersley bylaws, as well as Provincial legislation.
- Definition and reference to 'Dangerous Animals' is consistent with that of Provincial legislation.
- Pet licence fees have been simplified and, specifically for dogs, are no longer based on weight of the animal. A separate fee is now referenced for animals that have a micro chip
- A late penalty fee is added, similar to the Traffic Bylaw.
