Replacement of 172 metres of water main pipe on 2nd Avenue West is getting underway. Excavation work is scheduled to begin Wednesday, October 4, and temporary water service lines are being installed for all affected residents to ensure that they have consistent service during repairs.

Council approved the emergency water main work at a Special Meeting of Council held Monday, October 2, as a result of line breaks that occurred in late September due to corroded and aging pipe. The project involves replacement of 172 metres of water main pipe between 5th Street West and 6th Street West, including five valves and two water hydrants. Council authorized a budget not to exceed $100,000 for the project.

The following addresses will be affected and will be connected to temporary water service this week:

#1 6th Street Cres.,

#2  6th Street Cres.,

#120 6th Street West,

#121 5th Street West.

Once water service is restored, a Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory is in effect for addresses affected.
